60th, 70th and 80th birthday speech template
PDF + editable Word doc · delivered instantly · 14-day refund, no questions
The material for this speech is better than for any other, and most people do not go and get it. Your parent had thirty years before you existed. There are people in that room who knew them then: siblings, school friends, the person they shared a flat with in 1974. Every one of them is holding a story you have never heard, and they will tell you if you ask.
That is the speech. Not your memories of them as a parent, which the room has heard versions of, but the version that predates you. Five minutes, and warmer than a fortieth without being solemn: the most common failure here is a speech that sounds like a rehearsal for a eulogy.
The usual seventieth or eightieth speech sounds like a rehearsal for a eulogy. Wonderful mother, always there for us, we are so lucky to have her, delivered in a hush to somebody who is alive, well, and would quite like to enjoy their party. This guide sends you to make three phone calls instead, and comes back with the version of them from 1974 that the grandchildren have never heard.

- DownloadThe PDF guide and Word template land on the confirmation screen immediately, and in your inbox as a link that doesn't expire.
- Make the phone calls: 5 questionsRing their siblings and oldest friends three weeks out, not three days. People need time to remember, and they ring back with something better than they said first.
- Fill in the templateTwo stories from before you existed, three quotes from the people you rang, and one sentence of your own.
- Practice with the cue cardsPrint the last page and cut along the dashed lines. Card four carries the quotes verbatim, because you must not paraphrase someone else's words.

Questions
How do I get it after I pay?
Instant download on the confirmation screen, plus emailed to you as a permanent link that never expires. No account needed to buy or to redownload later.
What formats do I get?
A 10-page PDF guide and an editable Word document, both included in the one purchase. The 6 printable cue cards are the last page of the PDF.
Can I actually edit it?
Yes. The Word document is a real editable template, not a locked PDF, so you can type directly into it, change the wording, or rework sections freely.
What if it's not right for me?
Email within 14 days and it's refunded, no questions asked. You keep the files either way.
Will it sound like a template?
This is the guide where that is least likely, because the whole method is research. Two stories from before you existed and three verbatim quotes from people in the room is material that could not possibly be about anyone else.
What should I never joke about?
Mortality, in any form. Not still with us, not long may it continue, not at his age. It is the one category that changes the temperature of a room instantly and cannot be recovered. Anything about health or decline goes the same way, and so does any reference to the will, however jokingly. Everything else is fair game, and the guide is clear that jokes are what stop the room going quiet.
For a younger milestone, the 40th and 50th guide is roast-first, and the 18th and 21st guide is written for a parent.
Buying for more than one speaker? The Birthday Speech Pack, all three guides plus the joke pack, is $39.
